COVID-19 ; Telemedicine Update

At the Nebraska Pain Institute, we are taking all steps necessary to limit the spread of COVID-19. Pain is an urgent and sometimes emergent matter; therefore, we are doing everything we can to treat pain in the clinic setting to keep patients from going to Urgent Care Centers and Emergency Departments. Telemedicine is a great resource to allow for the timely treatment of patients while limiting exposure. We are now offering telemedicine services. Our Full Strategic Plan includes:

1) Improving access to telemedicine visits with goal of 50% of visits performed during the pandemic

2) Risk stratification measures to limit patient visits for those at highest risks

3) Pre-screening all patients to check for travel history, exposure to known patients with COVID-19, and symptoms of the virus

4) Improved hand hygiene measures of staff and guests (additional sanitizer stations strategically positioned as well as reminders throughout the clinic)

5) Temperature checks on all patients and staff entering the facility

6) We have moved all high-risk employees to home based work or limited patient contact

7) Limiting physical examinations to only those tests that are most important with good hand hygiene before and after

8) Risk stratification protocols of opioid medicines in the setting of COVID-19

9) Patients may wait in their vehicle after check in

10) Limiting family members in the clinic to only those that are absolutely necessary

11) Increased sanitation procedures (we have always maintained a high level of cleanliness in our clinic and we have increased these measures to help prevent the spread of the virus via inanimate objects)

The Nebraska Pain Institute is prepared to do our part in treating patients and limiting the spread of the virus. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
